The Heart vs. The Brain: An Ongoing Battle of Wills
The heart and brain of human beings are two of the most confounding aspects of us. It's like they're two individuals who just can't seem to find common ground—no matter how many attempts you make at explaining things to them so they can get along. They somehow communicate in entirely different tongues.
Your brain tells you one thing; your heart tells you another. And they hardly ever see eye to eye. One desires safety, reason, and security. The other pursues dreams, feelings, and "what ifs." You attempt to pursue both but most often find yourself stuck in the middle—overthinking, second-guessing, and being lost.
The brain will say to you, "What if it fails?" It is protecting you. It thinks of every worst-case failure, every potential risk. But the heart will whisper, "What if it succeeds?" It perceives the possibility, the enchantment, the memories to be had.
And the reality is, you can only go with one of them at a time. Eventually, you will have to make a decision.
That's when I've discovered something easy but powerful: Sit still with both. Listen. And ask yourself—Which one is lighter inside? Not easier, not safer—just lighter. Because sometimes, that lightness is a message of what your soul really desires.

Your brain guards you, your heart ignites you—but you alone get to choose which one guides.
Which one do you generally follow—your head or your heart? Write your story in the comments.
